On the morning of August 10, the Southern Oil and Gas Industry Sports Festival 2024 organized by the Vietnam Oil and Gas Trade Union (VPU) officially opened at the Vietsovpetro Sports and Culture Center, Vung Tau city.
The 2024 Oil and Gas Sports Festival is a meaningful activity to celebrate major holidays of the country and the Oil and Gas industry: celebrating the 65th anniversary of the Vietnam Oil and Gas industry realizing Uncle Ho's wish, the 79th National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2), the 49th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam Oil and Gas Group (September 3), the 15th Oil and Gas Culture Week.

On the side of the Vietnam Oil and Gas Group (Petrovietnam), there were comrade Tran Quang Dung, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the Group; comrade Pham Quang Dung, member of the Standing Committee, Chief of the Party Committee Office, Chairman of the Veterans Association of the Group; comrade Le Minh Hong - Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Oil and Gas Association; comrade Le Anh Chien, Deputy Head in charge of the Propaganda Department of the Party Committee of the Group; comrade Dinh Duc Manh, Deputy Secretary of the Youth Union of the Group; together with leaders of the Party Committee's departments/offices, professional departments of the Group; comrades leading the member units of the Group.
On the side of the Vietnam Oil and Gas Trade Union, there were comrade Nghiem Thuy Lan, member of the Party Committee of the Group, President of the Vietnam Oil and Gas Trade Union, Head of the Organizing Committee of the Sports Festival; comrade Nguyen Manh Kha, member of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam Oil and Gas Trade Union; comrade Vu Anh Tuan, Vice President of the Vietnam Oil and Gas Trade Union; together with comrades members of the Standing Committee, Heads of the Departments/Offices of the Vietnam Oil and Gas Trade Union; comrades Presidents/Vice Presidents of affiliated Trade Unions and the participation of more than 1,000 athletes from 25 units in the Group.

The sports festival aims to promote cultural values; raise awareness of union members and employees about the meaning and importance of Corporate Culture and the Oil and Gas Culture Week; at the same time, continue to respond to the campaign "All people exercise following the example of great Uncle Ho"; create a joyful and exciting atmosphere among union members and employees; foster confidence, will, courage, spread the good traditional values of the Oil and Gas industry in the new period; encourage union members and employees of the Oil and Gas industry to overcome all difficulties, determined to successfully implement the targets of the Resolution of the 7th Congress of the Vietnam Oil and Gas Trade Union and the production and business plan targets of the Group and units in 2024.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the Sports Festival, President of the Vietnam Oil and Gas Trade Union Nghiem Thuy Lan emphasized that Petrovietnam is a pillar economic group of the country. The Group focuses on promoting production and business, along with building corporate culture - oil and gas culture. Culture has become a traditional beauty of oil and gas workers and an important driving force for the Group's sustainable development.

The Chairman of the Vietnam Oil and Gas Trade Union emphasized that in 2024, the Group and its member units will have both advantages and challenges in production and business. Each Oil and Gas worker should turn challenges into a driving force for development with the spirit of "One team, one goal", promote the pioneering role, responsibility, enhance the culture of coordination in performing tasks, promote solutions to penetrate deeply, and elevate the culture of Petrovietnam.
The leaders of the Vietnam Oil and Gas Trade Union called on the oil and gas workers to unite with a new spirit, mindset, and spirit, to set clear goals, and to take decisive action for the sustainable development of the Group; at the same time, to constantly cultivate and promote the Oil and Gas culture with the core values of "Aspiration - Intelligence - Professionalism - Compassion".
The Southern Oil and Gas Industry Sports Festival included 6 competitions: Tug of war, badminton, table tennis, tennis, swimming, sack jumping and friendly football. Right after the Opening Ceremony, the sack jumping and tug of war competitions took place. The matches were exciting and attractive, creating excitement for the athletes and fans present at the stadium, opening a series of exciting competition days at this year's sports festival.

The Northern Oil and Gas Industry Sports Festival is expected to be held on the occasion of the Oil and Gas Culture Week on August 23, 2024, at the Hanoi Athletics Palace.
